Fence Riding - An American Pastime
When we avoid speaking out on political issues it may seem economically expedient, but this fosters censors and helps the advocates of leftism dominate our government.
“Elijah went before the people and said, “How long will you waver between two opinions? If the LORD is God, follow him; but if Baal is God, follow him.” But the people said nothing (1 Kings 18:21).”
Robert Kennedy Jr. just dropped out of the 2024 Presidential race, removed his name from swing state ballots, and endorsed Donald Trump for president. He is willing to take a stand, even if it costs him friends and creates strife in his family. I’ve been highly suspicious of his intentions, because of his family background and ideological leanings, and I remain credulous as I consider his unequivocal support for abortion. But, he has convinced me that he is a man of courage. That is something we lack in this nation. He did not ride the fence and avoid conflict.
Implications of this move for the 2024 Presidential election and beyond are still being realized. The following images are somewhat entertaining AI-generated fake American unity — but speak to our desire to have genuine unity: under the Lordship of Jesus Christ and the truth of the Bible (see John 17:23, Romans 12:16-18, Psalms 133:1). When I asked AI for American fence sitters, this is what I got. But we can dwell in true unity if we faithfully pray to God for our nation and submit to his commands.
Today many Americans get by without taking a stand. In the past, this was viewed economically and it has become a racial issue for Democrats who seek to divide our nation. Within the church, liberals can no longer make the case that the Democrat Party is a legitimate political option. Democrats have been exposed as overtly Marxist communists who use terms like progressivism and socialism to gain power and enact their evil plans. Instead, weak men genuflected and kvetched at the prospect of another Donald Trump presidency. They hate masculine virtues more than they love their nation and children. What has become of these wolves in sheep’s clothing that embrace all forms of evil but will not deal with sinners saved by grace who only desire to fight for truth and justice?
When asked why he was not more politically vocal, the NBA superstar Michael Jordan famously said, “Republicans buy sneakers too.” This made sense economically. Jordan was a businessman. Media pressure on Jordan was designed to call out his lack of civil rights activism. He was never comfortable speaking out politically because he saw the benefits of capitalism in his own life. He would not engage in grievance politics nor could he view himself as a victim when he knew he was a champion.
Avoiding taking a stand is politically expedient. It plays into the stereotypical advice that we must not talk about politics and religion at the dinner table. But, these are the most important topics to discuss. And, serious people must have conversations about meaningful issues. Therefore, racial politics has become a facade of deeper problems that drive a wedge between believers.
Liberals have a belief that African Americans are supposed to support Democrats, and this has resulted in a coalition between elitist anti-natal whites and urban race hustlers that captures nearly 90% of black voters. A historical shift took place after the 1964 Civil Rights Act when Republicans in the House voted 290–130 in favor of the bill. The Senate was overwhelmingly Democrat and voted 71 to 29 with 27 Republicans and 44 Democrats joining forces against 6 Republicans and 21 Democrats to support the bill. Then, Democrats used the Civil Rights movement to ingratiate themselves to the African American community and buy off leaders with political patronage.
King did not want to attach himself to either party. He met with Dick Nixon and Jack Kennedy. When Lyndon B. Johnson took over the Democrat party after the coordinated assassination of John F. Kennedy on November 22, 1963, he supported the Civil Rights Act and co-opted a growing political movement by enacting the Great Society with welfare to reduce “The Black Vote” to a subservient class. This solidified Democrat ownership of cities and black votes. They have never relinquished control. Liberal Christians cater to these presuppositions when they assume that legal justice must become “social justice” also and that economic redistribution through taxes is a legitimate act of government.
By shifting the electorate to oppose conservative policies Democrats and statist Republicans took over the federal government and reinstituted plantations of takers. Passage of the Civil Rights Act followed the movement largely led by Martin Luther King Jr. who was killed on April 4, 1968. He once stated, “I don’t think the Republican Party is a party full of the almighty God, nor is the Democratic Party. They both have weaknesses. And I’m not inextricably bound to either party.”
Could he honestly say that same thing today?
Even if the Republican Party is filled with grifters and wimps, it is the only political party that allows men to be brave and just. It is the party of religious freedom, free speech, and free inquiry. Conservative policies are the only Biblically consistent way to lead, and the Republican Party is the seat of power that conservatives access. Practically, we must win the GOP back to save our nation from being doomed to collapse. The Democrat National Committee and their convention are filled with the low-T Beta-males who kiss the high heels of cat women. This is the broad institution of Hillary Clinton’s once-secret and ineffective testicle lockbox.
Before this transition in the 1960s, most African-Americans were strongly in the Party of Abraham Lincoln and conservative. In 1880, three-quarters of black families in Phillidelphia were two-parent households and from 1890 to 1940 the black marriage rate was higher than that of whites. A political relationship that began in the Reconstruction Era, continued until LBJ took over. LBJ dropped out of the race, RFK (the elder) cultivated African Americans, and Hubert Humphries won the contested nomination and fractured the Democrat Party. Richard Nixon cultivated a strategy to appeal to African Americans in his 1968 campaign which resulted in a victory of 301 to 191 in the electoral college. Ethnicity was not tracked during this election. By 1972 Nixon won in a massive landslide 520 to 17 in the electoral college.
My few recent conversations with liberals have convinced me that most remain firmly entrenched in a shroud of lies. While Donald Trump may be making inroads with African-American men, it is the race hustlers, white liberal women, and their beta-male pets who insist that the Republicans are racists. Spurring on this hatred creates division in our country. They have become even more committed to fomenting racial disharmony. The largest voting block in sheer numbers during the 2024 election will remain white women. Men tend to vote more conservatively, and Republican policies appeal to married women who respect their husband’s leadership in the home. This is the crucial segment of the population that Donald Trump must win in order to be elected on November 5, 2024.
We need strong women who listen to reason and follow the Lord. These are devoted wives and mothers who may be turned off by some masculine rhetoric but recognize the voice of logical and god-fearing men. They honor and respect their husbands. And, we need brave men to stand up and speak up to lead. “Now therefore fear the Lord and serve him in sincerity and in faithfulness. Put away the gods that your fathers served beyond the River and in Egypt, and serve the Lord. And if it is evil in your eyes to serve the Lord, choose this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your fathers served in the region beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord (Joshua 24:14-15).” This will get people off the fence and into the fight.
For years America existed in a state of shadow equilibrium, where the political elite could take over institutions and the middle class absorbed the cultural rot being shoved down our throats. Colleges, media, hospitals, and businesses have all become more left-leaning, while these same groups decry the radical right-wing extremists who want to harm this once great nation. By kowtowing to this agenda Christian conservatives have acquiesced to their domination and abandoned leadership roles.
Consider, recent statements by sports stars on race relations and what this reveals about the economic motives behind their word and actions.
LeBron James rejected this neutrality when he advocated the elimination of police violence and for Eric Garner. By wearing t-shirts proclaiming “I Can’t Breathe” he made a political statement spawned by the belief that America is a systematically and institutionally racist country. He parroted some of the lines spoken by former NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick after his protest in 2016. While the shooting of Trevon Martin in 2012 was the seminal tragedy that triggered the Obama-era of racial division, these kinds of events are all part of the Black Lives Matter (BLM) movement that culminated in the protests of 2020 after the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis, MN.
Democrats have only one play: foment hate for conservatives and Christians through gender, race, and class division. They are applying the same form of intersectionalism and woke politics to the Kamala Harris campaign that they have used in the past. In the 2008 election of Barack Obama Democrats more subtly ran this play to great effect for their goal of fundamentally transforming the nation. Kommie is a placeholder within the deep state apparatus which is a modified ACORN community organization designed to utilize identity politics to create a smoke screen of votes. As an African-American Indian-American and female candidate, she appeals to people who see race and gender as policy positions. She is reaping the harvest of hope and change.
The era of political pacifism seems to be over, yet many Americans still want to sit on the sidelines. The largest contingent of unreached voters remains evangelical Christians, who think they can withdraw from the political process. The truth is that Big Eva has proven an inept and ineffective torch bearer for the once Religious Right movement. Conservatism was co-opted by grifters and crooks who took advantage of well-meaning Americans to stock their wallets and bank accounts. They did not advance Christian principles of justice and righteousness because the culture was slouching toward Gomorrah.1
Independents and moderates supposedly make up the squishy middle of the American electorate. Fence sitters in need of convincing love to be courted by pollsters and media acolytes. These are what Rush Limbaugh called low-information voters. They don't have cork convictions. They are not self-aware enough, and lack core beliefs so to speak instead they simply do what the liberal media tells them to do. There is nothing moderate about taking a stand for truth, goodness, and beauty as our cultural ideals are rooted in the traditional Christian faith.
Libertarians do not fall into this category. They have strong views that span party lines but do not have a political vehicle to advance their agenda. Because they are independent-minded but not independent voters they have been often neglected in the American political process. However, libertarian-leaning and entrepreneurial men and women have slowly realized that only with conservatives in charge will they be allowed to pursue the logic of their ideas. As long as they can accept and abide by natural law and a just legal system we should be able to get along. But, this détente will only hold so long as the threat to free speech and individual liberty from liberals is pronounced.
Media and elite donors used the No-Labels and Never Trump groups as two sides of the same coin. These are left-wing and right-wing iterations of the same uni-party impulse to avoid anti-establishment candidates. Donald Trump embodies the antiestablishment movement right now, and the federal government intelligence agencies are doing everything they can to prevent him from becoming the 47th president of the United States. Make no mistake, they will not go quietly into the night this fall. Will the US population see their actions coupled with the lawfare against Trump as crossing a line to manipulate our nation?
Waking up America’s sleeping and comfortably numb middle class has been a perennial problem for conservatives. Tucker Carlson has become more outspoken and radical since leaving Fox News. His show was attacked by pressure groups that sought to intimidate his producers and the network executives with lawsuits and advertiser boycotts. Now, he is intent on hitting back. But many conservatives have been taught to only watch Fox News and therefore acquiesce to the radical pressure brought to bear upon them by large financial interests. We need Christian conservatives to jump off the fence and stand their post — locally and nationally we must avoid the trap set by our uni-Party overlords and strategically unite to defeat this looming threat. Only after winning this election which is a conflict of worldviews, can we debate how to move forward. We need men and women with the courage to do what is necessary to protect their families and our nation.
“If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him. But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind. For that person must not suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways (James 1:5-8).”
Do not be double-minded anymore.

Great perspective Jeff!
